Equine Therapy
A Growing Strategy Used In Modern Day Complimentary Medicine
Equine Therapy
Kerry's passion for horses led her to complete an Equine Psychology Diploma. She went on to use this experience to help others through Equine Therapy, using her own therapy horses. Kerry works alongside her team - Sue, a retired school counsellor. Lydia, our equine expert and Erin, Kerry's daughter and animal lover. Equine therapy can help with a vast array of mental health issues as well as individuals/groups who just want to spend some time in the open, with super calm horses. We have also seen amazing results with SEND & LD individuals that we work with.
Equine Therapy is becoming more common due to the amazing results achieved. Our sessions are based at our Equine Therapy Centre, Genie Lodge, in Newtown Linford, Leicestershire.
What Is Equine Therapy?
Equine Therapy or Equine-Assisted Therapy (EAT) incorporates horses into the therapeutic process. You will engage in activities such as grooming, feeding, tack cleaning and leading a horse while being supervised by myself, a mental health professional.
Goals of this form of therapy including helping people develop skills such as emotional regulation, self-confidence, and responsibility. It might feel a bit intimidating to have such a large, majestic creature participating in your therapy sessions, however, the benefits of EAT are being proven constantly in modern-day complementary medicine.
How Can I Help?
If you are suffering from feelings of sadness, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, EAT may be perfect for you.
EAT also has amazing benefits when used across the ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder) and with children/adults with an array of Learning Disabilities / Brain Injuries & Physical Disabilities.
I always hold a no-obligation free initial call to assess your current situation and how best to help you. If I feel EAT is not right for you, I will signpost you to the best service for you.
